ON NEW EDITIONS
Since the creation, the war between the Gods and the Asuras (the Dark Powers who want all for themselves) has ever existed. And their possession in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram is no surprise. These forces do their dirty work through people. It is upto us to make the distinction as who we want to serve. Normally the serving or collaborating with the undivine is very easy for it demands not much effort of purification from our part. But if we want to work for the Divine, the divine demands this purification of oneself and for us to listen to our inner self alone then we can do it, and this is not easy for everyone as so many get trapped into serving we know who.
These new editors who have had all the text at their disposal and with their need to move with what they call move with the times have altered the writings to suit their perverted interests. So now what one gets to read is their tampered versions instead of only what Sri Aurobindo has written and published during his life time. They have succeeded in altereing the original writings and representing them to the world as the original with their stamp of research and development and the new publication of the complete works. Sri Aurobindo had seen all his major works completed and published before he left his body. Around fifty years after when the Divine Mother left her body these group of people with their mission took all the manuscripts under their control, made an Archives and Research Department and slowly controlled all the writings and now their new versions are available to the public. In the past three decades, all those who stood or raised any issue through their patient letters, some even going to court etc. have been successfully trampled for the final result of the edited versions to be sold and distributed by the Ashram. The complete works called the 'SABCL or The Birth Centenary Library' is having its name SABCL version, but inside it is not the SABCL version but their tampered version. The Ashram website or other websites which got their material from the Sri Aurobindo Ashram have or are having the tampered versions. Such a fact removes the possibilty of any cross-reference if one has any objection to something or if something is confusing and one wants to check, for all of their nonsense added now the blame will go on Sri Aurobindo for this is his work.
For example: Sri Aurobindo writes(SABCL Vo l 3 Page 214)
... the women who are certainly the gentlest, purest and most gracious and loving in the whole world. ...
Similarly the west also preserves its tradition; the Punjab is typified by its wide acceptance of such simple and practical and active religions as those of Nanak and Dayananda Saraswati,
Now in the new versions:
... the women who are certainly the tenderest, purest and most gracious and loving in the whole world.
Similarly the West also preserves its tadition; the Punjab is typified by its wide acceptance of such crude but practical & active religions as those of Nanak & Dayanunda Saraswati,
Here is an example from the page from this site on Sri Aurobindo's Yoga:
"If mankind only caught a glimpse of what infinite enjoyments, what perfect forces, what luminous reaches of spontaneous knowledge, what wide calms of our being lie waiting for us in the tracts which our animal evolution has not yet conquered, they would leave all and never rest till they had gained these treasures. But the way is narrow, the doors are hard to force, and fear, distrust and scepticism are there, sentinels of Nature to forbid the turning away of our feet from less ordinary pastures."
The differences in the New Revised Edition are:
"If mankind could but see though in a glimpse of fleeting experience what infinite enjoyments, what perfect forces, what luminous reaches of spontaneous knowledge, what wide calms of our being lie waiting for us in the tracts which our animal evolution has not yet conquered, they would leave all & never rest till they had gained these treasures. But the way is narrow, the doors are hard to force, and fear, distrust & scepticism are there, sentinels of Nature, to forbid the turning away of our feet from her ordinary pastures."

The key person in making these alterations in Sri Aurobindo Ashram is Peter Heehs. These alterations when looked closely clearly indicate that they are not ordinary mistakes, but are very cleverly done. I recall when I had spoken to him in Lodi California in 1998 he had expressed keen kind of possessed desire to get the new versions materialised in printing. As was his friend so had listened and had felt his deep pain that was there, the deep pain that inspite of his doing what he is doing there seems to be still a huge sea out there called Sri Aurobindo. He had given a talk in the Lodi Centre and was asked about his work which was recorded by the Centre person Vishnu. After due to the subject raised in the talk I had asked Vishnu to give me the Peter's talk copy whhich he had done and had given to me in two cassettes. The audio is there and the link below is the text of the audio.
Peter Heehs working in the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Archives was in America as an invitee presenter for the AUM 98 presentation. This talk was recorded in Lodi Centre in California where are the presenters shared their experience in a collective gathering of disciples.
Sample of the changes made:
Sri Aurobindo writes:
"It is evident that by dwelling in this cosmic consciousness our whole experience and valuation of everything in the universe will be radically changed."
In the new Edition they add their own line to it:
"So much for the essential relation; but we have to see also the practical results of this internal transformation. It is evident that by dwelling in this cosmic consciousness our whole experience and valuation of everything in the universe will be radically changed."
